It’s time to let the flood gates open, ladies and gents! I gave you a small morsel of book candy back in November as I wrapped up the manuscript and have since been planning the most exciting events in Spruce history. Two months from today, Spruce: A Step-by-Step Guide to Upholstery and Design will be in bookstores everywhere — high kicks!
Almost two years ago, the talented folks at Storey Publishing and I teamed up to create the most thorough and beautiful upholstery book on the shelves. After six SOLID months of writing, 26 days of photoshoot, and countless hours of illustrating, designing, and editing, we’ve done it! In case you missed it, that’s the front and back cover above!
One of my favorite parts of this process was making over my own living room with the projects from the book!
A combination of design, inspiration, and how-to, the Spruce book is a one-stop resource for you DIYers or those of you who just need some inspiration for Grandma’s old chair. Through five projects, including a Louis chair, a slipper chair, a wingback chair, a full-sized sofa, and a diamond tufted ottoman, you’ll learn all of the skills to upholster any piece of furniture. There are also sections on how to sew throw pillows and interior design principles to transform your space from bare to beautiful.
More tips and tricks from the book:
- Setting up a workshop
- Stripping furniture
- Calculating yardage
- Spring tying
- Pattern matching
- Working with leather
- Sewing cushions
- Making channels
- Diamond tufting
- And lots more!
Did I mention it has 900+ step-by-step photos and 400 pages? I hope you’re ready! Check out some inside pages below.
There’s far too much to share on one blog post, so stay tuned for more book bites every week until launch day. We have contests, giveaways, parties, and classes across the country coming your way…
