I recently picked up a new interior design book, and boy do I love it! It’s rare that I spend multiple nights in a week pouring over non-fiction.

This new book, The Design Cookbook: Recipes for a Stylish Home, is written by an adorable designer named Kelly Edwards. I wasn’t familiar with her before, but she certainly has a knack for interiors. The book is filled with her own projects as well as other talented folks in the design community.
The book is broken up into sections based on rooms (super practical, woohoo!), and each section starts with some basic “recipes” that anyone can use to make a room really sing.

From there, it goes into various “recipes” and DIY projects to create the style you are trying to achieve. Amazing bathrooms abound!

The book is also filled with beautiful photos from various designers’ projects that help readers visualize the techniques to use. Some of my favorite designers, like Amber Lewis of Amber Interiors, have projects throughout. Merrilee McGeehee, one of our favorite Austinites and customers, is also in the book with her amazing painted kitchen floors!

I have read quite a few books of this kind, and this one is extremely lovely and helpful. Go peruse the pages at your local book store or on Amazon’s website.
PS. I am also reading Mindy Kaling’s book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?. A perfect summer read, bedtime giggles will ensue.
And last but not least, the happiest of birthdays to one of our Sprucettes, Katherine!! Words really can’t describe how much she means to us, so instead, we showered her with gifts. This of course made KB extremely anxious and self-conscious. Perfect!
