It’s finally happening. After months of preparation, Spruce will be on book tour next week!
Last Friday, the Sprucettes were in high gear planning for the launch party for Spruce: A Step-by-Step Guide to Upholstery and Design here in Austin. The party was a complete success, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our hosts at Mockingbird Domestics. Over 100 people came out to celebrate with us – and we lucked out because the weather was perfect for people to mingle outdoors, too.
Family and friends joined us for a book signing and some delicious Southern fare – fried chicken and biscuits, grits and collard greens, to name a few of the items catered by FoodHeads. We also had some extremely addictive treats made by our very own pastry queen, Katherine.
The craft station we set up in the back of the store was a hit with both children and adults! Clar and Katherine took turns teaching people how to make round pincushions out of round wooden disks, foam, buttons and scraps of fabric. It was great seeing everyone proudly show off their DIY souvenirs throughout the night.
We organized a raffle and a fun Instagram photo contest with the staff at Mockingbird, who were kind enough to donate some tea lights, tumblers and t-shirts for a giveaway. Our lucky winners were Margaret Rozell, Heather Kasper, Kim Howerton, Eva Shivers and Katie Kime! Take a look at all of the photos taken that night by searching #sprucebook on Instagram.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made our night truly special. We also want to thank all of the bloggers who have been writing about the book and our giveaway for an upholstery hand tool kit and fabric (which ends on Friday!). In the past two weeks, we were featured in Pretty Prudent, Austin Tidbits and Dallas Tidbits, Centsational Girl, Design*Sponge, Citygram Austin, Havenly and, of course, Mockingbird Domestics. Whew!
