It’s been a while since I’ve dedicated some time to my house projects. Between the holidays and then recovering from the holidays, I’ve had a hard time getting motivated to continue working on my personal furniture list. Pressing at the moment is my bergere chair and ottoman (for which I’ve had fabric for the last six months!) and completing my living room ensemble since the chair and ottoman are the last big projects for the living room. Here’s my progress with the chair so far:
My 50’s bungalow, covered by shade trees, can get a little dark at times, so I’ve been searching for that last addition of color to brighten and clean up the space. Since getting married, I’ve traded in my pinks and purples for a more gender neutral color palette that gets the husband seal of approval. What we’ve ended up with is an orangey brown leather sofa, large wooden coffee table, two slant back chairs with Chiang Mai Dragon fabric, and my soon to be black velvet bergere chair and ottoman. These pieces combined with wooden floors, dark green velvet curtains, brick fireplace, and wooden built-in shelving have left the room a little heavy.
With triple-digit heat right around the corner, I need a fresh, cool color to lighten the room. Here are some rooms with similar furnishings that have gotten my wheels turning. I’m leaning towards minty green or aqua blue. PLEASE let me know your thoughts.
I’ll keep you updated as the chair and room progress!
