Upholstery Classes at Spruce
We have a lot of fun making things with our hands and love sharing some of our favorite projects with you. Step-by-step, the ladies at Spruce guide you through each project in a friendly and casual classroom setting. Chair makeovers, classroom chatter, and Katherine’s delicious desserts are just a few of the activities you can look forward to. Check out our current offerings below!
Do you have a side chair you’ve been itching to reupholster and always wanted to know how to do it? Bring your chair and fabric to this two-day workshop where the Spruce team presents ten hours of hands-on instruction, including lessons on furniture stripping, attaching padding and fabric, sewing welt cord, and so much more. All chairs must be approved by Spruce for level of difficulty.
From wooden substrate to finished bench, you’ll pad, staple fabric, and attach tapered legs to complete this 16″-deep by 48″-long bench. Class includes the frame, legs, upholstery materials, and five hours of hands-on upholstery instruction. Bring your favorite fabric and a sack lunch and turn nothing into something by creating this custom bench from scratch.
“One of the best things I’ve upholstered for my house is my headboard.” -Amanda Brown. Spend two days with the Sprucettes building this classic headboard from the ground up. We’ll start with plywood and 2 x 4s, custom-sized to fit your bed, and add a plush layer of padding to create the perfect perch for nighttime lounging. All materials included except the fabric of your choice.
In this one-day class, turn your favorite fabric into your favorite cylindrical shade. Class includes all materials (excluding fabric) and six hours of hands-on instruction. We’ll show you how to determine the perfect size for the drum. Then we’ll mount the fabric to lampshade paper and assemble the project with metal rings and glue. Say goodbye to boring, store-bought shades!
