Our Favorite Vintage Shopping in Austin
| June 16, 2010
We often have customers who come in wanting to redo an antique or Mid Century piece, but have yet to find the right candidate. One of the most exhilarating parts of redoing antique and vintage furniture is searching for and finding it. In response to the question we are asked so often, “Where do you find you furniture?,” here is a list of our favorite antique and vintage stores in Austin to search for your next treasure.
1. Corner Collector’s Market
6535 North Lamar Boulevard
Austin, TX 78752-4009
(512) 453-2515
Responsible for furnishing half of the furniture in my own home and many of the Spruce retail pieces, this store has everything from rustic, retro, and antique. You never know what you’ll find, the inventory is updated daily, and the prices can’t be beat. It’s also located a few doors down from Spruce!
2. Room Service Vintage
107 North Loop Boulevard
Austin, TX 78751-1226
(512) 451-1057
Voted Best Vintage Shopping in Austin, this store is busting at the seams with retro housewares, furniture, clothing and jewelry. We’ve also, on occasion, found some great vintage fabric remnants for our retail pieces. Stop by this store for a plethora of quirky retro decor and Mid Century furniture.
4. Uptown Modern
5453 Burnet Road
Austin, TX 78756-1627
(512) 452-1200
With two buildings and a courtyard full of furniture and housewares, this is your best bet for a refined selection of Mid Century Modern furniture ready to use in your home. Owner Jean Heath has an eye for handpicking a fantastic selection of vintage modern furniture, housewares and jewelry.
4. Austin Antique Mall
8822 McCann Drive
Austin, TX 78757-6931
(512) 459-5900
This is the largest antique mall in Austin I’ve come across and has dozens of booths with something for every kind of collector. Although it has a great selection of furniture, my favorite finds are the quirky antique knick knacks and housewares. Set some time aside for this store. There’s a lot to digest!

I am proud to say that i have visited just about all of those stores and they really are quite amazing. They are definitely some of the best that i have been in for vintage and collectibles. I haven’t been to the Corner Collector’s Market but I will have to check it out. I tend to frequent Room Service as I literally live down the street. Hog Wild across the street often has some pretty cool furniture too.
